Clutches![]() A clutch’s purpose is to allow a vehicle’s transmission to be either engaged or disengaged from the engine. When a clutch is disengaged (foot on the pedal) power cannot flow through the transmission. When the clutch is engaged (foot off the pedal) the clutch, fly wheel and disc ‘lock’ together, allowing engine power to flow through the transmission.
